Claudius eventually decided to have Valentinus executed. On 14 February 270, just before his death, Valentinus wrote a note to the girl, signed 'From your Valentine'. When she opened it, a flower fell out — and miraculously, she could suddenly see. This is how the tradition of Valentine's Day was born, rooted in love, sacrifice, and one final miracle.
